Genuine CERBEC® silicon nitride balls are used in Aerospace & Military equipment to improve Bearing Performance. CERBEC balls are lighter, stiffer, smoother, harder,
corrosive resistant, require less lubrication and have lower thermal expansion than
their steel counterparts which allow the bearing to run at higher speeds, higher
operational temperatures with lower torque. CERBEC balls are extremely durable.
At present, CERBEC balls are used commercially in a variety of aerospace equipment such as:
instrumentation, air-cycle machines, and liquid oxygen pumps. Bearings using CERBEC balls
are also being designed into future uses such as: engine main shafts, and power transmission
gear boxes, and Liquid Hydrogen Turbo Pumps.
CERBEC balls are certified for use in ball screw applications such as wing flap actuators
for long life, and reduced corrosion. During flight when the ballscrews are generally idle
yet wing vibration is still continuous, the smooth, inert surface of CERBEC balls eliminates
vibration induced false brinelling which extends life.
